Super Quotes

I've decided to post a few quotes from the TV series 'Smallville' here. The series may be a bit silly at times, but there are some interesting and insightful things in it that you can pick up, if you dig deep enough. In case you don't know about the tv series.... it's about the life of Clark Kent in his teenage years before he became Superman a.k.a the 'Man of Steel'. Before he could leap tall buildings in a single bound, Clark Kent started life and went through his teenage years in a small town in Kansas that is aptly named Smallville. Well, there's the intro and here now are the quotes:

"Any good relationship relies on trust, but there has to be room to disagree"
-Martha Kent to Lex Luthor-

"Passion for life, work & friends is great, as long as you keep it in check"
-Lex Luthor to Clark Kent"

"Having a relationship that's built on secrets & lies is doomed to fail"
-Lana Lang to Clark Kent-

"It's never comfortable for anyone to open up their feelings to others. But if you care about somebody, you owe it to them"
-Lana Lang to Clark Kent-

"If you really like someone you accept every part of them. But you can't do that until they're willing to share every part with you"
-Lana to Clark-

"Anyone who doesn't appreciate poetry, doesn't understand that it's all about seduction"
-Lex to Lana-

Finally, I'd like to include a poem by John Donne, that i heard in one of the episodes of Smallville. I'm not such a poetry fan but this one has such a sexy ring to it. Lex Luthor recited this poem to Lana, not to seduce her but to make a point.

Take me to you,
Imprison me,
For I never shall be free,
Nor ever chaste,
Except you ravish me.
-John Donne-

Heh!
Would that thou had been raised in Smallville,
fictional thy existance would be!

-Thanks for the link to the works of John Donne. I've never actually read much poetry but i've read a few robert frost and some John donne poems. Are there other works of poetry by other writers that you think would be a good read?

Some like Walt Whitman; I found it took a while to appreciate his work. try here for a start Oh Captain, My Captain is featured in a movie called "Dead Poet's Society" with Robin Williams. Excellent movie! If I were to list favourite movies it would be right up there with "Summer of Forty-Two"

enjoy,

I should explain. We lived in Japan for seven years; in Tokyo at the time of the Hanshin Daishin(Kobe) 1995. (I worked with the recovery teams as a Morgue Tech; my trade was embalming) Ever since I have been acutely aware of the suffering that attends a strong quake. click for an excellent tracking site. It sends automatic email updates.
It is really amazing at the amount of quakes which occur in a day.

No i wasn't sleeping, and it was quite far away from where i am (Penang, Malaysia). But i did feel the tremor and i'm sure what i felt was very mild compared to what they must have experienced close to the epicenter of the quake. Malaysia almost never experiences earthquakes, when it does, its usually because of an earthquake or volcano eruption in indonesia. read more about what happened in my 'Shaken but not stirred posting.
